Hamfest Cancellation Policy and Procedure

Summary of the 2022 Hamfest
Cancellation Policy and Procedure

During these uncertain times of the COVID pandemic, the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society recognizes that there is both a need to plan for the Charlotte Hamfest and to provide our Dealers, Flea Market Vendors and Ticket Holders with clear pathways in case the Charlotte Hamfest must be cancelled for health and safety reasons.

The Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society has adopted a new policy to ensure that all Dealers, Flea Market Vendors and Ticket Holders will have options for credits or refunds of any payments already  made to the Charlotte Hamfest should the Charlotte Hamfest be cancelled for health and safety reasons or governmental requirements.  This will only apply if the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society (dba The Charlotte Hamfest) chooses to cancel the Hamfest.  It does not cover any situation when a Dealer, Vendor and/or Ticket Holder chooses not to participate in the Hamfest for their own reasons.

To assist everyone in their planning, the Charlotte Hamfest will make a Preliminary Announcement on whether or not the Hamfest will be held as scheduled on January 3, 2022.  This will be followed by a Final Announcement on February 11, 2022.

If a governmental agency or the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center makes a determination that the Charlotte Hamfest cannot be held, that information will be disseminated as soon as a formal notice is received by the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society.

The full policy is posted [here].

January 2022 Update:

The health of all who participate in the Charlotte Hamfest is a great concern for the Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society. At this time, we believe that with proper precautions the 2022 Charlotte Hamfest will proceed as planned on March 11th and 12th.

We are closely monitoring the continuing COVID situation and guidelines, and will provide updates as they are needed.
